New York State Police troopers were dispatched to a stretch of Route 17 on Wednesday night, where there was a report of the crash. During the subsequent investigation, police said that it was determined that the driver, Monroe resident James Oshea, 66, was driving while impaired.
Troopers proceeded to arrest Oshea at the scene, and he was transported to the State Police barracks in Wurtsboro, where he submitted to a chemical test that determined he had a blood alcohol concentration of .23 percent.
Oshea was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Following arraignment, he was released to a sober third party and is due back in the Town of Mamakating Court on March 6 to answer the charge.
